Before you got engaged and started planning your wedding flowers, you probably knew a few flower names or maybe you literally don’t know any of them, have no clue what’s in season for your wedding date and what’s not. The good news is: that’s totally fine! It’s my job to know the flowers. I’ve got your back on this one!

In this blog post, I’ve listed a few of my favourite flowers for the Spring weddings (Don’t worry if your wedding is not in Spring, I’ll write individual post for each season to keep it short and sweet). If you’re wondering what’s in season for your upcoming Spring wedding, keep on reading!

You can hardly go wrong in Spring with all the newly awaking goodies. With so many varieties available, the possibilities for creating beauty are endless.

Peonies

Many brides plan their weddings around this dramatic flower and it’s easy to see why. They come in corals, light and dark reds, whites, creams and all pinks. We’re lucky enough to be able to grow some of the best peonies here in NZ (mostly in South Island). The season is very short so if you absolutely love them and can’t imagine having a wedding without them, then think about to have your wedding in late October to early December. (YES, they just came in season NOW!)

Ranunculus

Ranunculus are one of my all time favourites. The fluffy and round flowers look just like a beautiful ballerina’s tutu. They come in most colours except for blue. They’re simple and elegant, look good with almost anything so perfect for weddings. Brides love the fresh and contemporary feel of them.

Anemones

Anemones come in many colours: white, pink, red, purple and blue. My favourite has to be the white ones with a black center. They last really well and can add a touch of sophistication to any arrangements. They usually well-priced in late Spring so it’s always good to buy seasonal for the value of money.

Poppies

Poppies are happy and fun. The colour range is from the deepest red and the brightest orange to the pretty, soft cream, peach and pink. They can be bold and striking yet delicate at the same time with the paper-thin petals. They’re perfect for brides who like a pop of colour for their weddings.

Sweet Peas

Sweet peas are very popular Spring wedding flowers. They come in white, red, pink and purple. Their lovely soft, delicate scent makes them even sweeter.

There’re a few all year round flowers you can choose from, like roses, carnations and chrysanthemums. They all come in a big colour range and usually are more cost effective.
